Wine of the Week

The Carrie Bradshaw Approved Wine You Need to Try

No Mr. Big’s were harmed in the making of this article

I’m not a huge lover of celebrity endorsed products. I never buy celeb-owned makeup (looking at you Kylie Cosmetics), clothing, etc. But somehow, I always end up accidentally trying celebrity wine and falling in love with it (see my articles on Post Malone’s Rose and Brangelina’s Rose). So when I discovered this Invivo X, SJP wine, I knew immediately I had to feature it as this week’s Wine of the Week.

The Backstory

Invivo is an award-winning wine company started by two good friends, Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne. In fact, they’ve won 250 medals including world’s best Sauvignon Blanc. Also included in their list of accomplishments are 90-Point ratings from Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. (Not sure what the 90-Point rating means? Check out my article explaining it here.)

In case you don’t know who Sarah Jessica Parker is, she is best known from her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the hit TV show “Sex and the City”. Besides being a famous actress, she also served as a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and is vice-chairman of the board of directors for the New York City Ballet. And in 2019, she partnered with Invivo to create this masterpiece of a Sauvignon Blanc.

An important part of Invivo X, SJP’s mission is to help give back and support communities in need. That’s why they collaborated with FEED Projects founded by Lauren Bush-Lauren. Fun fact: Lauren is the granddaughter of former President George H.W. Bush and is married to the son of Ralph Lauren!

FEED Projects has helped provide millions of kids throughout the world with vitamin supplements and food through work with the UN. Because of Lauren’s work with FEED, she was named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs and one of Inc.’s 30 Under 30 among many other awards. Sarah Jessica Parker is no stranger to this type of work either, she has been actively working with UNICEF since 1997.

According to the official Invivo X, SJP website, 386,958 school meals have been donated in 2021 through their partnership with FEED.

The Notes

This New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has citrus forward notes, followed with a blend of tropical and oak notes. Many reviewers also pick up on guava, peach, green apple and grassy elements. One thing’s for sure: this is a super fruity and citrusy wine.

The wine is well-balanced, crisp, layered and has the perfect level of acidity.

By now, you’re probably not surprised that this wine has received many, many accolades. Here’s a list from the official website:

  • 90 POINTS, Wine Spectator
  • DOUBLE GOLD, BEST OF CLASS, New York World Wine & Spirits Competition
  • GOLD, 94 POINTS, Melbourne International Wine Comp
  • 5 STARS, 94 POINTS, Wine Orbit
  • 90 POINTS, James Suckling

So don’t just take my word for how delicious this wine is, listen to the experts as well!

Food Matches

Invivo’s Co-Founder Rob Cameron made an official list of food matches for this wine. This list includes oysters, salmon, shrimp, salmon poke bowls, Korea spicy beef and more. I’m sure no one is surprised to see a ton of seafood paired with Sauvignon Blanc on this list. But I love how specific he gets, not just listing “seafood” in general, but specifying things like poke bowls.

The Verdict

If you want a delicious, affordable Sauvignon Blanc that also gives back: well, you’ve found your match. The notes are super complimentary, the acidity is perfect, and you won’t feel bad stocking your wine fridge up with this Sauv knowing that you’re helping feed kids around the world with your purchase.

P.S. Don’t you dare watch this week’s episode of “And Just Like That…” without this in hand!

Will you try this delicious Sauvignon Blanc? Let me know in the comments! Cheers! 🥂
