Perfume of the Month

Here’s Your Ultimate Guide of Budget-Friendly Dupe Fragrances

Smell expensive without breaking the bank

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s people knocking cheap fragrances. There’s tons of snobs in the fragrance world that will disagree with me, but price does not always equal quality. Some dupes are so unbelievably similar to their expensive counterpart that most people can’t tell the difference.

And in some cases, the dupe is even preferred! (Like this BR540 inspired, discontinued Zara Night Pour Homme V that probably sold for around $30 USD when still in stock, but is now being resold for $200. Meanwhile, the smallest bottle of BR540 goes for around $136 USD. I have this fragrance and it smells even better than BR540).

That’s why this month I’m doing something different. Instead of featuring one fragrance as my March Perfume of the Month, I’ve compiled a list of dupes that are super affordable and so similar to the expensive inspiration. And of course, a huge shoutout to my boyfriend Mark for coming up with this article idea and list of dupes. He is super knowledgeable on all things fragrance, so thank you Mark!

Creed Dupes

Creed Aventus + Zara Vibrant Leather

Zara has tons of great dupes. The only downside is that if there’s a really good dupe out there, it will sell out quick or Zara will stop selling it. So word to the wise: stock up. Vibrant Leather is currently in stock and is a great dupe for Creed Aventus for a fraction of the price.

Creed Green Irish Tweed + Armaf Tres Nuit

The following Creed dupes are all from Armaf. Armaf has tons of great designer dupes and they’re very well concentrated. Creed is super pricey, and this Armaf Tres Nuit is a great everyday dupe for Green Irish Tweed.

Creed Silver Mountain Water + Armaf Derby Club House Blanche

Still not convinced Armaf makes great dupes? When you compare the notes of Creed’s Silver Mountain Water and the notes of Armaf’s Derby Club House Blanche, the breakdowns are almost identical. The only difference is an added petitgrain base note in the Creed fragrance.

Creed Milliseme Imperial + Armaf Club de Nuit Milestone

Lots of reviewers claim Armaf’s Club de Nuit Milestone is even better than their Creed inspiration. Nothing wrong with Creed Milliseme Imperial of course, but if you don’t feel like using up your $300 perfume for everyday wear, Armaf is a great alternative.

Dior Dupes

Dior Homme + Armaf Futura La Homme

Armaf’s Futura La Homme is a well-known dupe for Dior Homme. Reviewers agree that there are a couple significant differences: first, the iris note and leather note are more prominent in Dior Homme. Second, Armaf’s fragrance has a sage note that makes the fragrance a bit spicier than Dior’s. So this isn’t an exact replica, but still a great affordable dupe.

Dior Homme Cologne + Jimmy Choo Man Ice

Don’t confuse Dior Homme and Dior Homme Cologne. Unlike the previous cologne mentioned, Dior Homme Cologne and Jimmy Choo Man Ice are almost identical in scent and longetivity. The most noticeable difference is that DH Cologne’s lemon note is brighter and more prominent. But for a fraction of the price, Jimmy Choo’s dupe is a steal.

Hypnotic Poison + La Rive Sweet Hope

La Rive is a fragrance brand that Mark recently discovered. It’s a Polish company that is praised for making nearly identical dupes to high end fragrances and typically for under $10. Yea, we were skeptical too. But for $10, we were happy to blind buy. And let me tell you, they really are crazy similar. La Rive Sweet Hope isn’t as “expensive” smelling as Hypnotic Poison and is a little less smooth, but otherwise they are extremely similar.

Another thing that is important to note: the La Rive bottles are super tacky dupes of the original bottles and somewhat off-putting. But trust me, don’t let that throw you off. These dupes are jaw-dropping.

Chanel Dupes

Chanel Egoiste Platinum + Armaf Legasi Homme

Armaf’s Legasi Homme is almost a clone of Chanel’s Egoiste Platinum. The only downside is that Armaf’s fragrance is not as strong and long-lasting as Chanel’s. But hey, you get what you pay for. Still a great dupe otherwise.

Bleu de Chanel + Versace Pour Homme Dylan Blue

Versace’s Pour Homme Dylan Blue is said to smell like a mix of Blue de Chanel and Dior Sauvage. And for that reason, many men actually prefer Dylan Blue to Bleu de Chanel. And the price difference doesn’t hurt.

Coco Chanel Mademoiselle + Armaf Club de Nuit

Coco Chanel Mademoiselle is not my cup of tea. It’s too musky and a bit nauseating to wear. However, Armaf’s Club de Nuit is an exact replica while being more wearable. The longetivity of Armaf’s dupe is amazing. If you’re a Coco Chanel Mademoiselle fan and don’t want to waste your expensive perfume for a grocery store run, you need this dupe.

Tom Ford Dupe

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille + MAC Velvet Teddy

MAC’s Velvet Teddy has the same prominent tobacco and vanilla notes as Tom Ford’s fragrance. However, a notable difference is that Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille is unisex while Mac’s Velvet Teddy is way more feminine. Still a great dupe otherwise.

Thierry Mugler Dupe

Thierry Mugler Pure Havane + Reyanne Tradition Insurrection II Wild

Both of these fragrances are super sweet, cherry, tobacco-y scents. And they are super similar. Reviewers say that Reyanne Tradition’s dupe actually performs better than Theirry Mugler’s price-y Pure Havane.

Lancome Dupe

La Vie Est Belle + Fatale Agent Provocateur

The biggest complaint against La Vie Est Belle is that it’s too sweet and cloying. Fatale Agent Provocateur is known for being way more tolerable but an almost exact replica of La Vie Est Belle.

YSL Dupe

Black OpiumLa Rive Touch of Woman

Mark recently bought me La Rive’s Touch of Woman and I was shocked how much I liked it. I am not a fan of YSL’s Black Opium (I do however love the Illicit Green and Neon Flankers. But I digress). So I was super hesitant about trying this La Rive dupe. But it was so much more wearable and lighter than Black Opium in the best way. And it still smelled like an expensive fragrance.

Giorgio Armani Dupe

Giorgio Armani Si + La Rive Beauty

The La Rive Beauty is a spot on dupe for Si. Tons of reviewers say that the longetivity is amazing. I disagree, my only complaint is that La Rive fragrances don’t have the longetivity that I prefer. But again, for the price and quality I can’t complain.

Juliet Has a Gun Dupe

Not a Perfume + Glossier You

Juliet Has a Gun is not my favorite. Hear me out: some of their scents are absolutely amazing, but they are so so soft. I like loud and bold. I actually bought Glossier You as a blind buy after reading some great reviews and loved it. When I got a chance to actually smell JHAG’s Not a Perfume, the two fragrances were almost the exact same except Glossier’s You was way stronger.

As much as I would love to mention every single dupe out there, the dupe fragrance world is huge and it’s just impossible for me to do that. So if I missed one, please comment below! 👇
