The Must-Have Fragrance this July
I just returned from a long overdue vacation to Portugal and Spain which included a TON of shopping. While abroad, I visited every beauty and fragrance shop trying to find that special fragrance that is not available in the U.S.
My mission was…not successful. BUT I did find a new fragrance that I absolutely fell in love with and decided to make this month’s Perfume of the Month. That fragrance is Jean Paul Gaultier’s “La Belle”.
The Note Breakdown
This fragrance is eau de parfum and comes in two variants: the original and an intense flanker.
When sampling, I preferred the original which boasts of pear and bergamont top notes, floral and leather middle notes and vanilla, vetiver, amber, and musk base notes.
If this sounds like gibberish to you, the best way I can describe this scent is super feminine, sexy and not overwhelmingly sweet. The notes I picked out the most were vanilla and some fruit notes, however it is definitely a scent you could wear both during the day and when going out at night. It’s cozy, alluring, romantic. And it’s not an overwhelming, offensive scent. It dries down beautifully.
The Wear Test
I snuck in a couple sprays of this at the duty free shop between flights back home and let me tell you…I felt like a bad bitch despite looking like I hadn’t showered in weeks. This perfume also had tons of lasting power. I was able to still smell it on me even after my 8 hour flight.
Despite its heavenly scent, I’m also a sucker for any and all Jean Paul Gaultier perfume bottles. This one is no exception. In typical Jean Paul Gaultier fashion, this bottle resembles a curvy woman’s body, and looks amazing in everyone’s perfume collection. The body boasts a gold decorative floral necklace and is a beautiful rich purple/burgundy color. Even if I hated the scent, I would purchase just for the bottle.
The Final Verdict
This is a scent that every woman needs in their perfume collection. It’s a sexy scent that everyone can rock and it’s not overdone like some other popular scents (I’m looking at you YSL Black Opium and Dior Hypnotic Poison).
